Questions about your LA fence project?
Here are some of the questions we hear most often.
How much does a new fence cost in Los Angeles?
Fence pricing depends on the material, total linear footage, height, gates and removal of an existing fence. Hillside lots, retaining walls and permit requirements can also affect the price. The best way to get an accurate number is a free on-site estimate.
Do I need a permit for a fence in Los Angeles?
It depends on your city and the fence. The City of Los Angeles, Alhambra, Pasadena, Glendale and other cities across LA County each set their own rules, and taller fences, masonry walls and fences on slopes are more likely to need a permit. We check the requirements for your address before we build.
How tall can my fence be?
In many LA-area cities, front-yard fences are limited to roughly 3 to 4 feet, while side and rear yard fences can typically go to about 6 to 8 feet. Exact limits vary by city, zoning and HOA, so we confirm them for your property before you choose a design.
What type of fence holds up best in LA's climate?
Vinyl and metal handle sun and heat with very little upkeep. Redwood and cedar naturally resist rot and insects and look great when they are sealed regularly. We recommend materials based on your sun exposure, budget and the style of your home.
What type of fence is best for privacy?
Wood privacy fencing, including the modern horizontal slat style popular across Los Angeles, is one of the most common choices. Vinyl and other solid-panel options also provide strong privacy with different maintenance needs and looks.
Can you build a fence on a hillside or slope?
Yes. We build stepped and racked fences that follow the grade, and set posts to suit the sloped or rocky ground common in hillside neighborhoods.
Can you replace an old or damaged fence?
Yes. We evaluate fences damaged by wind, termites or age and tell you whether a repair makes sense or whether replacement is the better long-term option.
Do you install gates?
Yes. Gates can be included with a new fence or added to an existing one. We build walk gates, driveway gates and other access points.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. We provide fencing for homes, businesses, multifamily buildings and commercial lots across Los Angeles County.
How long does fence installation take?
Timelines depend on fence length, material, site conditions, permitting and the scope of work. We give you a specific timeline once we understand your project.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. We provide free on-site estimates throughout Los Angeles County. Call (213) 669-1516 or send us your project details.
